First (opening) takbir

ٱللَّهُ أَكْبَر

ALLAHU AKBAR

Step · 03
Opening supplication
After the first takbir, each person quietly recites the opening supplication Subhanaka.
Arabic
سُبْحَانَكَ ٱللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ
وَتَبَارَكَ ٱسْمُكَ
وَتَعَالَىٰ جَدُّكَ
وَلَا إِلَـٰهَ غَيْرُكَ
Transliteration
SUBHĀNAKA-ALLĀHUMMA WA BI HAMDIKA
WA TABAARAK-ASMUKA
WA TA’ĀLĀ JADDUKA
WA LĀ ILAAHA GHAYRUK
Translation
O Allah, glory and praise are for You.
Blessed is Your Name,
exalted is Your Majesty,
and there is no god but You.

Second takbir
The imam says takbir aloud, and the worshippers repeat it after him.

ٱللَّهُ أَكْبَر

ALLAHU AKBAR
Translation
ALLAH IS THE GREATEST
Step · 05
Blessings upon the Prophet
After the second takbir, blessings upon the Prophet are recited.
Arabic
ٱللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ مُحَمَّد
كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ إبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيد
ٱللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ مُحَمَّد
كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَىٰ آلِ إبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيد
Transliteration
ALLAHUMMA SALLI 'ALAA MUHAMMADIN WA 'ALAA AALI MUHAMMED
KAMAA SALLAYTA 'ALAA IBRAHEEMA WE 'ALAA AALI IBRAHEEM, INNAKA HAMEEDUM MAJEED.
ALLAHUMMA BAARIK 'ALAA MUHAMMADIN WA 'ALAA AALI MUHAMMED
KAMAA BAARAKTA 'ALAA IBRAHEEMA WA 'ALAA AALI IBRAHEEMA, INNAKA HAMEEDUM MAJEED.
Translation
O Allah, send Your mercy upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad
just as You sent mercy upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Truly You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad
just as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Truly You are Praiseworthy and Glorious.

Third takbir
The imam says takbir aloud, and the worshippers repeat it after him.
Arabic
ٱللَّهُ أَكْبَر

ALLAHU AKBAR
Translation
ALLAH IS THE GREATEST
Step · 07
Supplication for the deceased
After the third takbir, supplication for the deceased is recited.
Arabic
اَللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ وَارْحَمْهُ وَعَافِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنْهُ وَأَكْرِمْ نُزُلَهُ وَوَسِّعْ مَدْخَلَهُ وَاغْسِلْهُ بِالْمَاءِ وَالثَّلْجِ وَالْبَرَدِ وَنَقِّهِ مِنَ الْخَطَايَا كَمَا نَقَّيْتَ الثَّوْبَ الْأَبْيَضَ مِنَ الدَّنَسِ وَأَبْدِلْهُ دَارًا خَيْرًا مِنْ دَارِهِ وَأَهْلًا خَيْرًا مِنْ أَهْلِهِ وَزَوْجًا خَيْرًا مِنْ زَوْجِهِ وَأَدْخِلْهُ الْجَنَّةَ وَأَعِذْهُ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ وَعَذَابِ النَّارِ
Transliteration
ALLAHUMMAGHFIR LAHU WARHAMHU WA AFIHI WA'FU ANHU WA AKRIM NUZULAHU WA WASSI' MADKHALAHU WAGHSILHU BIL-MA'I WAS-THALJI WAL-BARADI WA NAQQIHI MINAL-KHATAYA KAMA NAQQAYTA ATH-THAWB AL-ABYAD MINA AD-DANAS WA ABDILHU DARAN KHAYRAN MIN DARIHI WA AHLAN KHAYRAN MIN AHLIHI WA ZAWJAN KHAYRAN MIN ZAWJIHI WA ADKHILHU AL-JANNAH WA A'IDHHU MIN ADHAB AL-QABR WA ADHAB AN-NAR
Translation
O Allah, forgive him and have mercy on him, and keep him safe and pardon him, and honor his resting place and widen his grave, and wash him with water, snow and hail, and cleanse him of sins as You cleanse white cloth from dirt, and give him a better home than his home, and better family than his family, and better spouse than his spouse, and admit him to Paradise, and protect him from the punishment of the grave and the punishment of the Fire.

Fourth takbir
The imam says takbir aloud, and the worshippers repeat it after him.
Arabic
ٱللَّهُ أَكْبَر
Transliteration
ALLAHU AKBAR
Translation
ALLAH IS THE GREATEST
Step · 09
Giving salam
After the fourth takbir, following the imam, salam is given by turning the head to the right side.
Arabic
ٱلسَلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَ رَحْمَةُ ٱللَّه
Transliteration
AS-SALAAMU ALAYKUM WA RAHMAT-ULLAH
Translation
May peace and the mercy of Allah be upon you
