Before starting Eid prayer

Before starting Eid prayer position 1

What is Eid prayer?

Eid prayer is a special prayer that Muslims perform twice a year:

- Eid al-Fitr: after the month of fasting (Ramadan).

- Eid al-Adha: the tenth day of the month of Dhul-Hijjah, on the day of performing Hajj and offering sacrifice.

When is it performed?

- It is performed in the morning, not immediately after sunrise, but approximately 15-20 minutes after sunrise, and can be performed later than that.

Where is it performed?

- It is performed in the mosque or at a musalla (open space designated for prayer).

Preparation for Eid prayer:

- No adhan or iqamah - there is no call to prayer for Eid prayer.

- It is recommended to perform 2 rakats of voluntary prayer when entering the mosque.

- It is sunnah to recite takbirs aloud on the way to the mosque/musalla, especially for Eid al-Adha.

- Ghusl (ritual bath) is recommended before going to prayer.

- Wear your best clothes - this is sunnah.

- For Eid al-Fitr, it is recommended to eat something before prayer, and for Eid al-Adha, it is recommended to postpone eating until after prayer and sacrificing the animal.

Like other prayers, worshippers must come to the mosque with ablution (or perform it in the mosque) and pray the Eid prayer.
